That is the first estimate for finish line management (timing chip) for the 5K run. The people that would time the runners and provide results charge $1000 or $1.25 per runner, whichever is greater.

If we have 300 runners at $20 per registration we would make $6000, $1000 of which would go to the timing chip company.

I need to get working on sponsors.

Any ideas?

The cold wait...

I awoke at 6:30.

Drank some coffee.

Checked email.

Got dressed and drove downtown.

Waited for 20 minutes for the doors to open. People started lining up outside the door at 7:45. I looked at the thermometer, 11 degrees, I can wait a few more minutes.

I text my sister-in-law.

I look up, now we have 5 people in line. I turn off the car and head out to the cold to wait.

I notice the woman ahead of me has a July 2009 calendar in her hand. Whew, shouldn't have to worry about her. But wait, she just told her friend (#1 in line) that her event is the second Saturday of August. Uh oh. Maybe I should have left the car sooner and lined up ahead of her.

Finally the doors open.

"Please make two lines, this one for pavillion rentals, this one for special event permits."

I choose the special event line, knowing that I will get the pavillion with the permit.

I am second in line. The "second Saturday in August" woman is in the pavillion line. WHEW!

It's finally my turn. I hand over the application, she time stamps it, looks up past events, and thinks I will have no problem getting my permit.

I should find out as soon as this afternoon or as late as early next week.

If I do land this park for the Sue DiNapoli Ovarian Cancer Awareness Walk (and hopefully 5K run), I shouldn't have an issue getting it in future years, now they take in historical usage when granting permits.

The Band

'We're on a mission from God." Blues Brothers

Remember that line? They were getting the band back together. And so is Ben.

Ok, maybe Ben isn't on a mission from God, but he is putting together a band.

They are working on songs for the party. It's pretty funny. "The Band" calls and says, Does she like _______? Or do you think we can do _______?

I am sure it will be a fun night.

I was also informed I need to put together an awesome party mix on the ipod. Any suggestions? What songs will you dance to?

And the party will go on for hours celebrating Laura's 40th birthday (a week early).
